Chinese Visa Application Service Centre
The demand for Chinese visas has grown rapidly in recent years. To provide a better service for visa applicants, the Chinese
Embassy in London and the Consulate General in Manchester, drawing on the practice of some other countries, decided to
introduce a Chinese Visa Application Service Centre (
CVASC) respectively in June 2008 and in July 2009. CVASC is responsible
for receiving visa applications for visits to mainland China from ordinary passport holders who are UK citizens and citizens
of other countries possessing UK permanent residence or work permits. They are collecting visa fees on behalf of the Chinese Embassy
and the Consulate General and returning processed visa applications.
Since the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre (
CVASC) opened. It has meant that
ordinary passport holders have to make an online appointment before submitting visa applications to the Chinese Embassy. The visa categories
include L(Tourism), F(Business), X(Studying), Z(Employment), G(Transit), C(Crew), J(Journalism) and D(Residence).
Holders of Diplomatic, Service (Official) passport, or applicants qualified for the Chinese Diplomatic, Service, courtesy visa and
visa-exempt certificate, or applicants applying for the Hong Kong visa/entry permit can submit their applications directly to the
Chinese Embassy without making online appointment.
