General Footnote

You may read on this website and others, that a Statutory Declaration after legalisation is then called a Certificate of no Impediment, this is the same document which changes in the process from declaration to legalisation.

Do not become confused, you may see on this website or on other websites, information about the singles certificate. This is not a separate document. It is actually a Certificate of No Impediment which states you are single, they are one of the same in other words.

For a British Citizen to Marry a Chinese Citizen in China.

This is for a Chinese Wedding Certificate (Marriage Book) if you would prefer a British Marriage Certificate you are required to either be present in China for 21 days to post your banns in either the British Consulates or British Embassy in China. We have not provided information on this subject due to the length of time required to obtain a British Marriage Cetificate.
Please do not confuse the two processes for getting married in China. One process is to obtain a Chinese wedding certificate (Marriage Book) which is recognised in the United Kingdom the other is a British wedding certificate which is a long drawn-out process, we recommend you to take a Chinese wedding certificate (Marriage Book) as they say when in Rome.
